THE CILESSIAN HIERARCHY

The Cilessian Empire runs under a totalitarian dictatorship/ monarchy. The Empress ExOdessa is the closest thing to a god with the amount of power she has over the people. There is no “voting” for the ruler. It is determined by whoever is the strongest. If the ruler should die before she is usurped, then a grand tournament will be held to decide just that.

The only way to become empress is by the tournament, or by birth. However, even that does not go unchallenged. Vanilla, for example is the daughter of ExOdessa. However, she will not assume the throne until her mother passes. When that time comes, she must be tested of her worthiness by challenging the land’s mightiest warrior. If she wins, her family retains the throne, if she looses, well, she looses the throne. As bad as it may sound, Cilessians will only seek to dethrone a ruler if they find her disagreeable in some way. ExOdessa rules with a cold Iron fist, but it is that strength that her people respect.

Empress

the ruler of all of the empire. The big fish!

Princess

The princess is, naturally, next in line to the throne.She assumes the duties of Empress in her absence. The princess in Cilessian terms is not treated like those of other races. She is not coddled or “kept safe within the walls of the castle. Until she is empress she is just another Cilessian with a job. She can come and go as she pleases. In Cilessian eyes – similar to their views of the empress – if the princess cannot defend herself, then she does not deserve to be royalty.

The circle of elders

Elders are the more “seasoned” Cilessians. They are a group of Cilessians 800 years or older, who aid with ruling and grant wisdom to the usually younger empress. There are a number of them and they rule over different areas of the empire under the word of the empress.

Generals

Generals are the commanders of the Iron armada. They also, naturally, answer to the Empress. Generals are hand picked by the empress herself, and get to know her on a personal level. Just as the Elders give advice in the matters of the state of the Empire, the generals do the same about issues of war. Though They too govern lands in times of peace, They differ than the elders as they are actively engaged in military affairs .
